HACEY is a non-governmental organization formed to create a coalition of caring professionals who have committed to consistently inform people on issues concerning their health and environment. Specifically, we are aggressively working to make a difference in the quality of life for the child, adolescent, youths, women and the general public including students of various institutions and also the rural communities. We are dedicated to providing the finest resources for education, training and development for all members of our society.
‘Let’s talk about sex’ (Nov. 30th, 2007)
A symposium organized to address the struggles faced by youths concerning reproductive health and the choices they make. Experts were called to discuss the effects of making the wrong choice, there was a drama presented which depicted the consequences of not being careful. Youths participated in an interactive session where the questions they had were answered. The conclusions drawn from the programme made over 300 youths in attendance go home with a caution ‘beware! One unguarded moment can ruin a life’.
HACEY 1st World AIDS day (Dec. 1st, 2007)
An organized event with the theme: “HIV/AIDS- The challenges and chances”. The program enlightened members of the public on the difficulties faced by HIV positive individuals, and also on preventable measures for those without it. The program also discouraged stigmatization through presentation of
drama by HACEY creative centre. Students from both secondary and tertiary institution from different parts of the country were actively involved as they also made presentation ranging from drama, songs and also poems. A song written and sung by HACEY creative centre on a world without HIV/AIDS was also presented. We also facilitated a special involvement of girls in the campaign as students from girls school made active participation in songs and drama.
Debate competition: Environmental Pollution (Feb. 27th, 2008)
This dual purpose program was designed to educate and enlighten youths on the various activities that they engage in that affect the environment and what this pollution to the environment could cause, and also to develop the participating contestants in areas of articulation and presentation. The best presenters were encouraged with gifts and each contestant was advised on how to be better presenters.
World Health day (Apr. 7th, 2008)
An outreach organized to spread the information and educate youths and general public about the effects of climate change, and how this affects their health. Pamphlets which contained information on climate change and its affect on health were distributed. Methods on how each individual could reduce their effect on the climate were explained and a lot of individuals committed themselves to reducing their carbon footprint and spreading the information to others. The youths and members of the public were also informed what they could do to protect themselves and their families from the harmful effects of climate
change. members of some rural communities in Kwara state were informed in their own language.
PSN and SPAN National Conference (July. 13th, 2008)
HACEY participated actively in the organizing of the Physiological Society of Nigeria National conference, and the Students Physiological Association of Nigeria National convention which promote the interest of the youths in scientific research to combat discovered hindrances to complete health. It also created avenue for members of the organization to participate in activities for development including workshops and seminars. HACEY also provided technical and personnel assistance for each event. HACEY also sponsored and supported students to present scientific paper at the event.
HACEY 2nd World AIDS day (Dec. 1st, 2008)
The theme of the program ‘HIV/AIDS: future of the infected and the affected’ focused on addressing the overlooked struggles of those infected with HIV/AIDS and making everyone realize that they are affected either directly or indirectly. Facts and figures concerning the rampage of the virus were presented in an easy to understand way. Students from secondary schools presented songs, poems and a drama on HIV/AIDS, and a song was also presented by the HACEY creative centre. The organization commissioned a book on the theme of the program, a bulletin and also the website of the organization. The organization also marked one year anniversary on this day. The programme received coverage from the National Television Authority and also a local newspaper (HERALD).
Focus groups in secondary and tertiary institution (Mar. 2009) ‘ that all students no matter where they live or come from will be adequately empowered and correctly informed concerning health, environment and human development’ HACEY.
The statement above is what drives HACEY to facilitate focus groups to teach and empower students on health, environment and human development, this group also enhances active participation of students in health and environmental campaigns. Through this group we have been able to train over 300 students, and also empower students with skills such as writing, speaking, acting and singing. Also through this group students have been involved in health awareness and education. Topics discussed during the focus group meetings include; reproductive health, malaria, mental health, leadership, integrity, career development, and uses of information technology. Currently teachers of rural community schools have been involved.
World health day (Apr. 7th, 2009)
Uniquely spreading the information through telecommunication on how health institution can better improve their safety to enable them better provide service to the public and prepare for emergency. Tips on how to safeguard the health institutions against destruction during natural or manmade disasters such as in cases of fire or riots. Medical practitioners across the country were linked to information on how to improve their safety.
World malaria day forum (Apr. 25th, 2009)
To join the world in celebrating the world malaria day, HACEY organized a forum among the students of the University of Ilorin. A forum created to avail youths to discuss on the prevention, treatment and possible eradication of malaria in the society. Individual views on the cause of the spread of malaria and reasons for the persistence of malaria were discussed and gathered and were later published online. Suggestions on the best methods of making awareness on malaria prevention, and best means of treatment were also given. Each participant in the forum declared their commitment to preventing the spread of malaria.

Complete your drug dose when prescribed.
Personal hygiene and clean environment matters a lot.
Nothing is too small to do to eradicate malaria as long as it works and does not have a negative impact.
The forum was anchored by one of HACEY’s focus group tutor.
Picnic (9th June, 2009)
A program facilitated to encourage youths to discuss and share ideas concerning issues on climate change and environmental protection, it was uniquely organized to enhance youth participation, people were relaxed with pc games and board games, youths were able to share innovative ideas that will enhance environmental protection campaigns and the programs also made great minds to meet each other in order to actualize their ideas. Purposeful Action Towards Health-
A publication containing information on personal health, human development, and environmental protection. It also provides an opportunity for young writers to be exposed and provides titbits on ways of improving personal creativity. It provides information on new discoveries in health and environment. Human development centre Dedicated to developing the youths and students morally, mentally, emotionally, physically, etc using-
Training- We train youths and adults especially the less privileged to be tutors, to identify and develop their talents and also leadership skills in order to champion solution in health system improvement. We also encourage and train females to take up leadership responsibilities in the society and to
participate actively in decisions and activities.
Mentoring- Currently HACEY mentors over 100 undergraduate students in different course of study, about 200 secondary school students and about 50 graduate students.
Behavioural change methods and participation of every youth. Each individual is encouraged to pursue their dream and develop their talents. They are trained and supported through various activities and also encouraged to participate in community service.
Research centre
Created to undertake research to discover and develop better methods of improving the health of our society, and provide valuable information to help researchers carry out comprehensive data collection and interpretation. It also undertake surveys which can be used to project and provide valuable facts and information on health issues.
We serve as a resource centre for materials for the use of undergraduate students especially females and the less privileged. we train youths on research methodology and also how to use data analysis softwares.
The centre is headed by a professional vast and competent in research methodology with a proven track record.
HACEY Books HIV/AIDS
A book titled ‘HIV/AIDS: The future of the infected and the affected’. This was written to empower people with adequate and relevant knowledge on the effect of HIV/AIDS on those infected with the disease, and the people that have been disadvantaged indirectly or directly by the disease.
Information and facts in this book are provided in easy to understand formats suitable for every member of the society. Suggestions on what can be done to reduce the effect of this virus are also given in the book. A conclusion is made at the end that ‘it’s possible to realize an HIV/AIDS free generation only if everyone will take part in the challenge of combating it’ Children’s story book
A story book titled ‘The Adventures of Piggles Pig’ teaches children how they can help keep their environment clean and themselves healthy and that they too can make a difference. It shows how the environment can get polluted and what they can do to save it. It teaches hygiene, duty and teamwork to the children. This book is well illustrated in order to make children understand it with ease.

A song composed to pass the message that there can be a world where AIDS is no more a threat to humanity, and that both those infected and those that aren’t infected can all live together in harmony.
